A THIEF had a sudden change of heart and returned a girl's mobile phone after she burst into tears outside a fast-food restaurant in Wuhan City, capital of Hubei Province.

According to a Changjiang Times report, the thief even told the girl, who looked like a student, to be more careful with her belongings in the future.

The girl's handset was stolen on Tuesday in front of a busy fast-food restaurant about lunch time, the report said.

A witness surnamed Lu told the newspaper that the girl asked the restaurant boss and people nearby: “Did you see my mobile? It's stolen.”

Nobody knew where the cell phone was and the girl promptly broke into tears and squatted down by the roadside.

She burst into tears and squatted at roadside. All of a sudden, a man in red rushed over and handed her a mobile. The girl was surprised to see her mobile returned.

The newspaper quoted him as saying to the girl: “Don’t put your mobile in the pocket of your overcoat in the future. It will be safer if you put it in an inside pocket.”

The girl stopped crying and thanked the man, who quickly disappeared into the crowd with two others, the report said.
