NEWSPAPER EDITION
A COMPLEX of shops, offices, a hotel and underground parking is being built in the heart of Pudong's Lujiazui Financial Trade Zone.
Construction of the project, called Century Metropolis, has started and will be completed by 2011. The center will be enclosed by Dongfang Road, Zhangyang Road, Fushan Road and Weifang Road. It will cover an area of 89,200 square meters and be divided by Century Avenue into two triangle-shaped sections. Four Metro lines will meet underneath the center.
Lujiazui Financial Trade Zone Development Co will develop one triangular section and plans to sell or rent office space to Bailian Group when the project is complete.
Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa Ltd will develop the other section. It plans to build a 39-storey office building, a 23-floor hotel and an underground parking lot.
When completed, the complex will be connected underground to Century Avenue Station, a major transport hub. Currently, Metro lines 2, 4 and 6 meet at the station.
In future, Line 9 will also be extended eastbound across the Huangpu River to connected to Century Avenue Station. Line 9 connects to the suburban Songjiang District, in the south of the city.
