THE city's exit-entry administration is reminding local foreigners that most will need to renew their residence registration certificates at police stations this month.

The certificate is used to apply for, change or extend visa and residency permits.

The certificate, which is issued by neighborhood police stations, was updated with a new version on October 1, and now all foreigners must complete procedures to obtain the current document.

Foreigners holding the old version should renew it at their police station by November 30.

Foreigners who move from one residence to another during their visa term also need to update their residence information at the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration in Pudong within 10 days after receiving their certificates at their police station.

Further information is available at 2895-1900. English operators are available on weekdays from 9am to 11:30am and 1:30pm to 5pm.
