SHANGHAI police caught a drug trafficker who hid 50 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 60 pills of "magu" on a train that came from Chengdu in Sichuan Province to the city on Wednesday.

The man, surnamed Leng, was detained and sent to Shanghai under escort yesterday.

A policeman surnamed Liu saw a young man acting suspiciously when he was inspecting the No. K284 train as it was passing through Henan Province.

Leng, a Sichuan-Province native, said he was looking for a job in Jiangsu or Zhe°?jiang provinces, but had a train ticket from Chengdu to Shanghai.

Liu checked Leng's luggage and found a cigarette box in the pocket of a suit containing crystal methamphetamine. He also found a small bag of "magu", a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine, in another pocket.

Leng confessed that he had worked in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces before and knew that the drugs were sold at higher prices there than in Sichuan.

Crystal methamphetamine is commonly known as "ice," because of its appearance.
