THE popularity of beleaguered British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been boosted by his handling of the economic crisis, a poll released yesterday suggests.

Thirty-one percent of respondents to a survey in The Independent newspaper said they supported Brown's Labour Party, while 39 percent favored the main opposition Conservatives. That's a 2-percent rise for Labour and a 2-percent fall for the Tories since a similar poll a month ago.
