Tourists unhappy with packages, survey finds

THE quality of package tours is still a problem for half the 2,000 tourists surveyed by Ctrip.com, China's online travel agency.

Half of those interviewed weren't willing to take another package tour because they were dissatisfied with accommodation and meals, the agency's survey revealed.

Other problems recorded were with itineraries, with travelers complaining that scenic visits were sometimes cancelled without explanation, and saying that shopping took up too much time.

"We saw complaints in the media after the National Day Holiday in October, so decided to carry out our own survey," said Guo Guang, Ctrip's holiday business supervisor.

Guo said the survey showed that more than 40 percent of tourists were concerned whether they had time to visit all the scenic attractions listed on their contracts.
