A 'PILOT court' under the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court has handled 1,252 cases involving minors since July 2007.
The special court hears only non-criminal cases. Of these, 56 percent were resolved through mediation, 17 percent were withdrawn, and the rest are under trial, the Shanghai Higher People's Court said yesterday. Officials said more such courts would be established to fast-track cases involving minors.
