THE Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court yesterday sentenced Hu Jinkun to 10 years in prison for fraud. Hu, a 53-year-old former project manager for a relocation company, made use of his position to swindle 5.19 million yuan (US$759,245) in relocation compensation from the Chuan°?sha Township government in Pudong.

He obtained the compensation by falsifying house space and inventing non-existent property owners. Huang Jieping, a real estate appraiser who helped Hu by providing fake appraisal reports, was sentenced to three years in prison with a five year probation.
