China UnionPay to expand POS network

CHINESE residents were encouraged to use China UnionPay cards more when paying for overseas purchases.

China UnionPay's President Xu Luode told Shanghai Daily today that the POS network will be expanded overseas.

The UnionPay network will cover Taiwan, but Xu said it needs time and couldn't give an exact rollout date.

China UnionPay card holders can already withdraw money from 400,000 ATM machines in 45 countries and regions and use the cards in stores in 27 countries and regions.
