HOTELS designated for the Beijing Games will exclude dog meat from their menus, China News Service reported today.
The Games organizers have told their hotels to respect overseas countries' taboos on dog meat.
Beijing's political advisers suggested banning dog meat restaurants immediately after Beijing won the bid for the 2008 Olympics. Pet owners in the city were reportedly advocating this.
A dog owner, named Liu, said many of his neighbors had dogs and the pets had become part of their families.
Beijing now has 112 hotels designated as official hotels for foreign visitors.
