CHINA Telecom Corp has appointed Shang Bing, previously president of China Unicom Ltd, as its president and chief operating officer.

Shang, 52, will replace Leng Rongquan, Beijing-based China Telecom said in a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange yesterday. It also appointed Yang Xiaowei, also formerly a China Unicom executive, as an executive vice president.
