RESCUERS recovered seven bodies last night after an under-construction building collapsed in central China's Hubei Province.

In addition, 13 others were rescued and sent to local hospital.

At least 20 construction workers were buried after the four-storey building toppled about 5pm yesterday at Qiuzhigou Village in Wuhan City, the provincial capital, said an official with the public security office.

The municipal authorities said the construction of the building, a private residence, was illegal because it had not been approved by the local government.

Separately, six villagers died after a landslide buried their houses at Chengjiazhuang Town of Luliang City in north China's Shanxi Province at 9:15am yesterday.
