THE Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court has rejected the lawsuit filed by a Taiwan couple seeking 2.08 million yuan (US$302,766) in compensation for their daughter's death.
The couple are still considering whether to appeal. The couple's 19-month-old daughter suffocated when eating jelly produced by the Huayuan Food Company in March 2005. The couple said there was no warning of the danger jelly could pose to infants on the packaging. The court ruled the product was not defective.
