A MIDDLE-AGED female clerk at a lottery office in eastern China's Zhejiang Province was stabbed to death yesterday, Shanghai Morning Post reported today. The office head was also reported injured in the attack

Yin Zhiping, the victim, had met the suspect, identified as Liu, an Anhui Province native in her office on the 12th floor of an office building in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, at about 12:40pm yesterday.

Yin was the chief of the general office of the Zhejiang Provincial Sports Lottery Administrative Center on 333 Jian'guo Road N.

Without warning Liu suddenly pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed Yin in her neck and breast.

Yin screamed and Jiang Meng, director of the center, rushed to help but was injured as he struggled with Liu, who was grabbed and held by several other workers.

Liu, 22, reportedly had never won a lottery and went to the center to ask about this, Hangzhou police said.

Liu registered his ID card at the lobby reception desk before going up to the center.

Yin died in hospital, the newspaper reported.
