THE Beijing government will raise the minimum salary by 10 percent, as well as increase subsidies paid to families living below the poverty line to combat rising food and fuel prices.

Wages for city workers will rise from 730 yuan (US$106) to 800 yuan. Family allowances will climb by 60 yuan to 390 yuan.
