THE venue for the 33rd America's Cup, originally planned for Valencia, was in doubt after the organizer AC Management (ACM) ended its contract with the Spanish city on Friday.
The event has been on hold since a legal battle broke out between Swiss holder Alinghi and challenger BMW Oracle over how, when and where the prestigious race should be held. "As a consequence of the continued uncertainty around the event, ACM and the local government bodies have been left with no option but to revise the terms of their relationship ending the contract signed in July 2007 that named Valencia the host city for a multi-challenge 33rd America's Cup in 2009," ACM said.
