Golden Grand Prix tickets now on sale

TICKETS for the 2008 Shanghai Golden Grand Prix track-and-field meet are on sale, Jiefang Daily reported.

Organizers starting selling tickets on Tuesday and 90 percent are priced below 200 yuan (US$28.6). Six different priced tickets are available from 60 yuan to 1, 380 yuan.

The big attraction will be the men's 110 meter hurdles and the chance to see Shanghai native Liu Xiang, a former world record holder in the event, take on his rivals Dayron Robles of Cuba and American Allen Johnson. Robles recently broke Liu's world record.

The Shanghai Golden Grand Prix will be held at Shanghai Stadium on September 20. The organizing committee vowed to invite more elite athletes and Beijing Olympic champions.

Of 51,911 fixed seats, about 28 percent are priced at 60 yuan. Tickets priced at 120 yuan and 200 yuan account for about 60 percent of the total available.

Tickets can be purchased at all East Asian Ticket booths, online at www.shggp.com. The first 500 online ticket buyers have a chance to get their photograph taken with an Olympic champion.

Tickets will also be sold at major supermarkets and gymnasiums. People can also dial 400-888-0920 to order tickets. English service is also available.

Those interested in going to the Grand Prix need to be reminded that tickets for the best seats will not go on sale until August 21, the day the final of the men's 110m hurdles is held at the Beijing Olympics.
