Party girl suffers tragic tumble

A 16-YEAR-OLD local girl trying to sneak out to a party by climbing down from her fifth-floor window using sheets as ropes, fell and is now seriously injured in hospital.

The girl, surnamed Miao, was seen at 4am yesterday by a milkman who spotted her lying on the ground inside the Changhai No. 2 Residential Complex, with bits of sheets still tied about her.

Her family was alerted and rushed her to Changhai Hospital immediately.

The parents said they had been totally at a loss as to what had happened until they read messages on their daughter's mobile phone. Apparently Miao had been urged by her classmates to go out that evening for a party. The students had just finished their high school entrance exams. But Miao's mother would not let her daughter go.

The messages showed that afternoon Miao discussed with her classmates "breaking out" using sheets to climb down to the ground.

But the sheets came untied and gave way causing the girl to fall heavily to the ground, sustaining injuries to her head and legs.

Yesterday she was still being treated at the hospital and could not explain in detail what had happened. Police have not been involved.
