ALTHOUGH Hong Kong heart-throb Tony Leung made his name in television, internationally he is most strongly identified with the films of director Wong Kar-wai.

Tonight, Leung, at the invitation of Wong and the 11th Shanghai International Film Festival, will attend the special screening of Wong's latest film "Ashes of Time Redux."

The movie is a remake of his 1994 classic. All proceeds for the screening will be used for earthquake relief. Leung, together with his fiancee, actress Carina Lau, will also make themselves available for face-to-face talks with movie buffs. The two have been a couple for 19 years, and their wedding is due this year.

It is said that Lau started planning the wedding when her father passed away two years ago. She hopes that the marriage will provide some comfort to her mother.

The couple are also likely to appear at tomorrow's festival closing awards ceremony. Next month, Leung's latest film, the first episode of "The War of the Red Cliff" will hit Chinese cinemas.

The epic movie by John Woo centers on a famous war, a great milestone in the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280 AD). In the film, Leung plays the famed strategist Zhou Yu.
