MOUNT Ali and the Sun Moon Lake are the most popular Taiwan scenic spots for local tourists, according to a recent survey by Ctrip.com, China's major online travel service company.
More than 87 percent of 2,000 Website members surveyed said they wanted to go to these two scenic spots. Taiwan's city night markets are also hot destinations for local tourists with 62 percent of the respondents saying they wanted to try authentic Taiwan snacks.
Tourists said the current fares to Taiwan are too high. About 40 percent of the Ctrip members said an ideal fare would be within 5,000 yuan (US$714), and only 20 percent of the members said they would consider a fare above 8,000 yuan.
The first group tour to Taiwan is charging 12,880 yuan for each traveler. After that prices will drop to between 8,000 and 10,000 yuan.
