POLICE are still searching for Huo Jigang, a government official of Yanggu in Shandong Province who allegedly organized 16 students to take the National College Entrance Examination for others in Tianshui City of Gansu Province, the Oriental Morning Post reported today.
Huo is a vice director at the Yanggu County Agriculture Bureau. Previous reports mistakenly said he was a vice director at the Yanggu County Forestry Bureau.
Police Station Director Li Fengke and Jia Xudong, a police officer in charge of household registration, have been suspended from their duties as they are suspected of being involved in the exam scandal, the report said.
According to China Youth Daily, the incident has also led to the arrest of Jiang Xin, a teacher at Tianshui No. 6 Middle School. Liu Yanbo, the school's principal, has announced he will quit.
Huang Hongfu, Yang Weiping and Ma Yuansheng, principals at a vocational school in Tianshui, have also been relieved from their posts while they are being investigated for their alleged role in the scandal.
On June 7, police detained Wei Chengjia, a chemistry teacher. Wei was accused of taking 16 senior 2 students from the school he worked at in Yanggu County, Shandong Province, to Tianshui.
All the exam substitutes have been taken back to their hometown but have not resumed studies, the Oriental Morning Post said.
Feng Jitang, a police official with the Maiji District Public Security Bureau in Tianhui, said the investigation was still ongoing.
``We found four genuine ID cards of students who had someone take the exam in their place, however, police can not locate the people based on the information on the card,'' Feng told China Youth Daily.
