-- Adverstisement --

MORE than 2,600 violators were caught during this year's National College Entrance Examination, the lowest in the past 10 years, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.

The Ministry of Education said about 0.03 percent of the total of more than 10.38 million students taking the exams violated rules. As of Monday, education and police departments throughout the country had solved 34 cases, including 20 for fraud and 14 for cheating. A total of 195 suspects have been arrested, the report said.

Violators were mainly unemployed people. However, the list also included 11 education staff, two civil servants, eight undergraduates and 20 senior two students.

Police found some suspects that allegedly made illegal profits by lying about cheating tools and answers for the exam. Some allegedly organized students to take the exams for others.

Officials stated that both students who have someone else sit the exam for them and the substitute would be severely punished. They will be deprived of taking the National College Entrance Examination next year.
