43 trapped after mine blast

FOURTY-THREE miners are trapped undergroup after an explosion in a coal mine in northern China's Shanxi Province today.

The explosion occurred at about 11am today at a mine in Shanxi's Xiyi City when 58 miners were working underground, Xinhua news agency reported.

Fifteen miners escaped to safety after the explosion.

Rescue work is now under way.
