German dollmaker offers Barack Obama doll

A GERMAN dollmaker has added a 14-inch (36-centimeter) Barack Obama, complete with pale blue tie and Stars & Stripes lapel pin, to his lineup in honor of the US Democratic presidential nominee.

Marcel Offermann says the Obama doll's black suit and sky-blue tie resemble the outfit he has worn in many of his campaign appearances.

Offermann's Puppenklinik shop is selling a limited run of 999 Obama dolls online for 139 euros (US$219) each. Already 45 orders have been confirmed since the dolls went on sale yesterday.

Puppenklinik has a history of honoring public figures with dolls including the late Princess of Wales, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Pope Benedict XVI. The dollmaker is based in Neuss, Germany.
