Woman, 81, falls to death at nursing home

AN 81-year-old woman died after falling from the fifth floor at a local nursing home this morning and police are investigating, according to news portal Xinmin.cn.



The woman, surnamed Ni, had lived at the Kangxinyuan Rest Home in Yangpu District for two years. About 9am, a nurse saw that she was hanging onto the balcony at the laundry facilities on the fifth floor, the report said.

While the nurse rushed to rescue her, the woman fell from the balcony onto a fence on the ground floor. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

The woman's family visited her two days ago and she acted normally this morning before the incident, the rest home said.
