An employee of the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau has been suspended after being caught on a television news camera while playing an online card game.

The video was posted on the Internet, going viral and causing major embarrassment to the bureau.

The employee surnamed Shi, who was not further, worked as a media coordinator.

He was filmed playing "Killers of the Three Kingdoms" online in the weather forecast center when a Shanghai TV news crew was interviewing a chief officer of the weather service last Friday.

The shot containing the employee playing the online game was later posted on the Internet. Yesterday it was a hot topic on Sina weibo.

Although the interview was conducted during the noon break, the employee was still suspended from his position.

"It was in the work place and the influence was magnified by television and the Internet," said a colleague of the suspended employee.
