SHANGHAI Grand Carnival is coming back after a six-year hiatus and it will be held in the Expo Site in Pudong from July 23 to October 30.

After its successful run in Shanghai in 2003 and 2005, the Carnival 2011 is set to break some records. It will last for 100 days, the longest run in its history and its venue of more than 80,000 square meters will be the largest as well.

This year's carnival will have 50 amusement facilities, 40 of them proven very popular in the previous two rounds. The 10 new facilities are imported to China for the first time, including the Bat, the biggest roller coaster in world. The carnival park will also have 60 interactive games for young kids and their parents.

Live performances by foreign bands, Chinese martial artists, and children's dance troupe will also be presented in the park during the carnival.

Tickets cost 100 yuan per adult and 50 per child. Rechargeable E-tickets will be used for the carnival, which is open 1pm-10pm on weekdays and 10am-10pm on holidays.

Venue: the Expo Exit 4 on Bailianjing Road, between Expo Avenue and Pudong Road S.
