THE Shanghai Agricultural Commission said yesterday that it has drafted an emergency response plan in case of radiation on local vegetables. If the situation turns serious, the commission will quickly launch emergency measures.

Officials said monitoring points will be set up in suburban districts and counties and staffers will be equipped with portable testing instruments to monitor radioactive substances. Currently, vegetables are in abundant supply due to the warm weather. The daily vegetable supply was 8,600 tons, including 4,800 tons of green-leaf vegetables.
