2G iPhone users

CHINA Mobile's 2G iPhone user base reached 5.6 million as of the end of May, up 700,000 in the month, Wang Jianzhou, chairman of the world's biggest mobile carrier, said yesterday.

A photograph of an iPhone with China Mobile's 3G or 4G baseband tech figures was widely spread online, indicating the carrier would launch the cell phone on its network, industry insiders said.
