Shanxi former senior legislator faces criminal investigation
山西省人大常委会原副主任金道铭被开除党籍和公职

PROSECUTORS have opened an investigation into Jin Daoming, a former senior legislator in north China's Shanxi Province, over allegations of bribe-taking, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said Monday.

The SPP has placed him under "compulsory measures," which, according to China's Criminal Procedure Law, include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest. The SPP did not specify the measures it had taken.

On the same day, the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) decided to expel Jin, former vice chairman of the Shanxi Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, from the CPC and strip him of public service.

The CCDI investigation found that Jin took advantage of his post to seek profits for others, asked for and accepted "a huge amount in bribes". He received presents and cash and committed adultery, said a statement from the CCDI.

Jin seriously violated CPC discipline and is suspected of breaking the law, the statement said, adding his proceeds from breaking the party discipline will be confiscated.
