Xiamen store explosion kills 5, injures 20

Five people were killed and at least 20 were injured this morning when an explosion tore through a store in Xiamen, Fujian Province, Xiamen Daily reported.
The blast happened around 11:29am at a noodle store on the ground floor of Fuyuan Apartment Building on Jiahe Road, Xiamen police and the city’s health bureau said.
Ten of the injured were in a serious condition. A 5-month-old girl and her mother were among the injured, the newspaper said.
Xiamen Work Safety Bureau officials are investigating the incident but suspect it was a gas explosion, the report said.
A nearby bookstore’s windows shattered due to the force of the explosion and two people in the shop were injured, added the report.
