Suspect caught in Hunan after 9 killed with meat cleaver

A man suspected of killing nine people with a meat cleaver has been caught after he went to a clinic, according to police in Hunan Province.

The suspect, Wang Wensheng, 47, allegedly used a meat cleaver to kill nine people, including his estranged wife, on Saturday afternoon in Tianqiao Village, Xinhua reported. The news agency also said four others were wounded in the attack, including three severely.

Wang allegedly fled the scene and managed to evade more than 1,000 police, according to the report. Early on Monday morning he visited a clinic five kilometers from the scene of the killings asking for food and medicine, the report said.

Villagers grew suspicious when they saw blood stains on Wang’s clothes and reported to police, according to the report. Police apprehended him in a villager’s home at 10:50pm on Monday, the report added.

The three severely injured people were reportedly out of danger.
