Shanxi landslide kills 7 but rescuers save 1

SEVEN people were killed in a landslide in Shanxi Province early yesterday morning, but one person was rescued.
The landslide occurred at 2:20am in Xiguan Village in Jixian County, which is situated in a valley. Around 2,000 cubic meters of earth and stone buried a two-story building, trapping eight people, according to the county government’s information office.
Rescuers later managed to save one person and recovered seven bodies. The rescued person has been sent to a hospital.
People living nearby have been advised to evacuate to a safe place. The cause of the landslide is being investigated.
