Restaurant explosion kills 4 in Xiamen

THE death toll from a restaurant blast on Tuesday morning in downtown Xiamen city in east China's Fujian Province has risen to 4 as another died in hospital, the local government said.
Three more people remain in a critical condition, according to the local government's publicity office.
Police are investigating the blast and an initial investigation showed it to be caused by a gas cylinder. Fire officers continue to clear the site.
The blast occurred at about 8:00 am.
Locals said the restaurant, which was on the ground floor of a residential building, was a popular eatery, but did lack safety equipment such as fire extinguisher.
