Prostitution network seized and gone for good

A network, suspected of smuggling more than 300 prostitutes from mainland Shenzhen into Hong Kong every week, has been busted, with the capture of eight suspects, Guangzhou Daily reported on Wednesday.

The Guangdong frontier defense authority received the public tip-off about the cross-region prostitution in late April, it further added.

On June 26, eight smugglers, who prepared to pick three women from a Shenzhen Hotel in order to send them to Hong Kong by sea, were caught red-handed at the scene.

An initial investigation found that more than 300 prostitutes were smuggled from Shenzhen to Hong Kong every week. After staying in Hong Kong for a certain time, they would be sent back and replaced by a new batch of prostitutes.
