Missing student leaving to observe meteor shower alone found mummified
A MALE student from Yantai University in east China’s Shandong Province was found dead after going missing for over three months after telling his roommates he planned to watch a meteor shower, officials said.
The student, surnamed Jiang, who was a senior, is believed to have fallen from an unfinished building on campus on August 13.
His body had become mummified by the time a university teacher found him on December 1 at the building, which is under construction in the southeastern part of the campus, officials said.
After Jiang didn’t show up the day after the meteor shower, his classmates ran a missing persons notice in the newspaper in an effort to find him.
The university planned to hire a lawyer to negotiate with the construction company working on the building over security loopholes and compensation, officials said.
