THE number of Internet users in China rose by 16 million in the second half of last year to 648 million, an industry expert said. The country’s online economy in 2014 accounted for 7 percent of GDP, up from 3.3 percent in 2013, said Jin Jian, deputy director of the China Internet Network Information Center. Online retail sales in the first 10 months of last year rose to 331 billion yuan (US$53.1 billion).
