HK told it must protect visitors
HONG Kong must protect the security and dignity of visitors from China’s mainland, Fu Ying said yesterday, following incidents of tourists being harassed by activists in the city.
In recent weeks, several groups have staged protests targeting mainland visitors.
“Hong Kong is an international city and has a responsibility to protect all visitors, including mainland tourists,” Fu said.
“In the relationship between the mainland and Hong Kong, I hope that misunderstandings and disagreements can be resolved,” she said.
She urged Hong Kong to work with Beijing and warned that “negative energy” will make it hard to get things done.
