Former vice governor of Jiangxi indicted for graft

A former vice governor of east China's Jiangxi Province, Yao Mugen, has been indicted for abuse of power and graft, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said Friday.

Prosecutors in Xiamen city in east China's Fujian Province filed the case against Yao with the Xiamen Intermediate People's Court.

Yao took advantage of his positions at the provincial government to seek benefits for others, and accepted a huge amount of cash and gifts, according to the indictment.

Yao was removed from his post as vice governor in April last year, a month after the Communist Party of China's (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) announced that it had placed him under investigation for suspected violations.
