Father caught trying to sell newborn daughter

A father who tried to sell his newborn daughter has been caught at the scene in Yuzhou City, Henan Province, Yuzhou police said on Monday.
The middle-aged native surnamed Ding lived with a mentally challenged woman surnamed Sun. She gave birth to a girl last Friday. Ding felt he would be unable to raise the girl and thus decided to sell the girl to a woman surnamed Zhao, according to police.
At around 7pm on Sunday, Ding hid the girl in a suitcase before meeting Zhao in a hotel. Hotel employees were alerted when the baby cried continuously. They stopped the pair and called police.
Police rushed to the scene and captured the suspects. They sent the baby to a hospital. Officers added they were still investigating the case.
