Corpse 16 years old reported mummified but without decay

THE corpse of 25-year-old woman who died 16 years ago in Sichuan Province has not decayed despite the lack of any preservative measures, the West China Metropolis Daily reported today.
Tang Deqing was found dead in her bedroom at home by her family in Yingshan County of Nanchong city in southwestern China’s Sichuan Province on October 28, 1998. Police found a suicide note, and the woman was poisoned with an organophosphorus pesticide, according to the autopsy results.
However, her family didn’t agree with the police analysis and suspected she was raped and killed by someone. Her father placed her into a pine coffin instead of burying her. The coffin was put in the woman’s bedroom, and since then her family moved to other residences over the years.
The corpse turned into a mummy as the tile-roofed house holding the coffin became dilapidated. Her father said he never smelled anything when he opened the coffin to examine the body from time to time. He found the corpse appeared to be just slightly swelled but without decay when police asked for a postmortem examination.
