Investigation into Tianjin’s vice mayor

THE deputy mayor of Tianjin is being investigated for “serious violations of discipline,” China’s anti-graft watchdog said yesterday.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection did not elaborate.

Yin Hailin, 56, a former planning official, became deputy mayor in 2012.

Several other Tianjin officials have been caught up in China’s ongoing campaign against corruption, including Wu Changshun, a former public security boss in the municipality.

Yang Dongliang, the former work safety agency chief, was investigated for corruption days after explosions at a chemicals warehouse in the northern port city killed more than 170 people in August 2015.
