Woman's leg caught in gap between wall and faulty elevator which drags her up 15 floors

A 58-YEAR-OLD woman was dragged all the way to the top floor by a faulty elevator in a condominium building in Beijing.

The Beijing Youth Daily reported today that the incident occurred at 6:30pm yesterday in a 15-floor building in Fengtai District. The woman, surnamed Zhang, was stepping into the elevator on the first floor when it suddenly started moving with the elevator doors still open.

One of her legs was caught in the gap as she was dragged all the way up to the 15 floors. Another woman, surnamed Du, finally helped her out.

“I tied her leg with clothes to prevent her from losing too much blood,” Du said.

Residents immediately called an ambulance. Zhang suffered massive blood loss and her calf was fractured. She had a surgery in the morning and her condition is said to be serious, the paper reported.

The elevator has been shut down.

Local residents said the elevator hasn’t been changed in over 25 years. On several occasions, people have been trapped inside, the report claimed.
