Pregnant Myanmar woman, 18, caught transporting ice-laced mooncakes to China
CHINESE police have seized an 18-year-old Myanmar woman who allegedly taking 80 drug-laced mooncakes, stuffed with nearly 3 kilograms of crystal meth, into the adjoining Yunnan Province in southwest China.
The suspect, surnamed Li, has been granted bail as she’s four months pregnant, reported yunnan.cn, a local news website today.
She was caught in a residential complex in the provincial capital of Kunming on August 15.
From two cardboard boxes, anti-drug police found 20 boxes of mooncakes, stuffed with 2,989.9 grams of “ice”, it reported.
Li said her boss, not identified, gave her a fake Chinese identification card and asked her to trade drugs in Kunming. She was promised 5,000 yuan(US$750), it reported.
A further investigation is under way.
