Henan gives paid leave to only children with sick parents
CENTRAL China's Henan Province is to allow single children to take 20 days leave each year to care for their sick parents.
A regulation approved on Friday allows an only child to take 20 days off if their parent is over 60 and in hospital. Henan is the first province with such a scheme.
After more than 30 years of China's one-child policy, care for the elderly has become a serious challenge to both families and the government. In 2015, there were 220 million people aged at 60 or older, 16 percent of the population.
