Another round of smog in capital

BEIJING’S environmental authorities said yesterday that a new bout of smog was set to hit the city from last night to tomorrow.

According to the municipal environmental protection bureau, Beijing saw mild pollution, with the main pollutant being PM2.5, yesterday. The Air Quality Index may hit between 125 and 145.

Pollution will become severe today and hit medium levels tomorrow. Air quality will improve on Wednesday with the arrival of cold air.

The National Meteorological Center said the smog will hit parts of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Henan and Shaanxi, and may last until a cold front comes on Thursday.
