Andy Lau injured after falling off a horse
Hong Kong actor Andy Lau suffered serious pelvic bone injury after falling off a horse in Thailand on January 17.
The 55-year-old Lau was shooting a horse riding scene for a commercial. The horse went out of control and Lau was thrown from the horse. It also tread on his waist, The Beijing News reported. Lau was unable to move after the fall. He was rushed to a Thai hospital before being flown back to Hong Kong on a medical plane for further treatment.
Lau’s agency released an official statement yesterday afternoon about the details of the accident. The statement asked Lau’s fans not to worry as the star was currently under the good care of a medical team.
It was not the first time Lau fell off a horse. Ten years ago, while shooting Peter Chan’s action film “The Warlords,” he fell into a ditch from a horseback. Fortunately the heavy armor he wore for the character protected him from the injuries.
Medical experts said that it would take around a year for Lau to make a full recovery.
