Health Overview

In 2007, the district continued to improve its regional medical and health service system, by deepening the reform of its health service and improving its community health service centers.

While the Childrens Hospital of Fudan University was moved to the district, a group of medical institutions were also established in the district. They included the Blood Disease Research center of Fudan University, the Minhang Outpatient Department of Huadong Hospital, the District Maternity and Child Care Center, and the District Mental Health Center.

It also merged the village clinics into the district health service system. The district was rated as Shanghais only national model city for free blood donation.

Childrens Hospital of Fudan University

The hospital, which was completely moved to Minhang from its form place on Fenglin Road, is the first Class-3A hospital in the district. Located at 399 Wanyuan Road, the hospital occupies 160 mu of land and has a gross floor space of 80,000 square meters.

It is a first-rate childrens hospital in China, boasting of lots of newly-added modern equipment for examination and treatment. Meanwhile, the hospital conducts cooperation with the District Maternity and Child Care Hospital in three areas: child psychology, child health and child rehabilitation.

Shanghai Daopei Hospital

The Shanghai Daopei Hospital and also the Blood Disease Research Center of Fudan University were formally established in Minhang District on December 16, 2007. The hospital is a special one for blood disease, specializing in blood-forming stem cell transplantation.

Its President Lu Daopei is a famous blood disease expert, a trail-blazer in blood-forming stem cell transplantation in China and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

The research center was jointly formed by the haematology departments of all the hospitals attached to Fudan University and the Daopei Hospital. It is an academic institution specializing in the clinical diagnosis, research and teaching on blood diseases.
