Scientific Contribution

In 2010, the district had 13,718 patent applications. Specifically, 3,750 (27.3%) involved inventions and the number was higher than that of the previous year. In 2010, 2,051 technology-oriented enterprises passed the annual examination. 87 enterprises were recognized as hi-tech enterprises, and 23 enterprises were recognized as "innovation-oriented enterprises in Shanghai", accounting for 12% of the total number in Shanghai. Three enterprises were recognized as "Institute of Engineering Research of Shanghai", and 15 new research centers were set up.

In 2010, 236 contracts were recognized as "four-technology" service contracts (i.e., contracts covering technological development, transfer, consultation and backup). The trade volume of technological products reached RMB 3.18431 billion, and in all there were seven state-level key new products, 38 national technological innovation projects for small and medium enterprises, 38 key new products of Shanghai, 63 hi-tech achievements commercialization projects of Shanghai, and 76 technological innovation projects for small and medium enterprises of Shanghai.

Technological Giants

In 2010, in Minhang District, three enterprises were recognized as Shanghai "technological giants", and ten as "potential Shanghai technological giants". By 2010, there were 16 enterprises as "technological giants" and 38 as "potential Shanghai technological giants".

Development of IT Application

In 2010, the project "Wireless City" (Phase II) was progressing smoothly, and more areas were equipped with wireless networks, including key areas: No. 5 People's Hospital, Qibao Shopping Mall (Phase II), Xinzhuang Cultural Center, Minhang District Library, Youth's Center, Minhang District Community Hospital. In the meantime, 205 new wireless AP (access points) were built, and internal distribution systems in 24 office buildings were established.

In 2010, 101 roads in the districts were adjusted for information pipeline construction, and the information pipeline extended to 842.868 km (141,277 km in length). The training program for 655 persons and popularization program for 22,318 persons were accomplished.
