Scientific Contribution
In 2009, the district had 13,624 patent applications. Specifically, 2,992(or 22%) involved inventions and the number was higher than that of the previous year. In 2009, 2,046 technology-oriented enterprises passed the annual examination, and this number was only 2,003 last year. Five enterprises in the Minhang District were recognized as “most dynamic technology-oriented enterprises in Shanghai”, and one enterprise won the prize on account of its remarkable sense of social responsibility.
Also in 2009, 299 contracts were recognized as “four-technology” service contracts (i.e., contracts covering technological development, transference, consultation and backup). The trade volume of technological products reached 1.2 billion Yuan, and in all there were 10 state-level key new products, 2 Shanghai Torch Projects, 45 Shanghai-based key new products and 96 projects at the municipal level for making technological breakthroughs.
Technological Giants
In 2009, in the Minhang District, 6 enterprises were recognized as Shanghai “technological giants”, ranking the first among all the Shanghai Districts and counties. In addition, 7 enterprises have been recognized as “potential Shanghai technological giants”.
Development of IT Application
In 2009, the project of “Wireless City” was progressing smoothly, and more areas were equipped with wireless networks, including Meilong Xinduhui, South Shopping Mall and Commercial Area, Longming Road Fashion House, Minhang Agrarian School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xinqiao School, Electronic Machine College, Minhang Central Hospital, etc. In the meantime, 588 new wireless access points now became available, and internal distribution systems of 50 office buildings are established.
Also in 2009, 150 roads in the districts were adjusted for information pipeline construction, and the information pipeline extended to 230 km (or 1,080 km in the length). The training program for 1,364 persons and popularization program for 26,726 persons were accomplished; Minhang performed best among all the districts and counties in meeting the quota.
